Latinos In Action is proud to work with friends in our communities to provide scholarships for our college-bound students. Please review the requirements carefully before you submit your application.



  • You must be a graduating high school senior currently enrolled in an LIA class.
  • Submit a pdf file of a personal statement and a letter of recommendation.

What You Will Need:

  • A letter of recommendation from an adult with whom you have worked.
  • A personal statement that portrays the “Make It Happen” theme. Your personal statement must be a maximum of 2 (two) pages, double spaced, in size 12 (twelve) font with 1” (one inch) margins.
  • Your cumulative GPA.

Suggested Essay Topics:

  • Share who you are, your family background and your heritage. How have these influenced you?
  • Explain your educational and career goals.
  • How has being in Latinos In Action helped you work toward your goals?

Judging Criteria:

  • Presentation of the “Make It Happen” theme in your original voice.
  • Organization, creativity, style, descriptive language, imagery.
  • Proper use of grammar and punctuation.

Scholarship Timeline:

  • The application period: November 11, 2019 – January 10, 2020.
  • A public announcement and scholarship presentation will be made at the LIA Youth Leadership Conferences.
  • Scholarship funds will be distributed to students’ college financial aid office account at the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester.
  • Scholarship recipients not enrolled in a post-secondary program in the Fall of 2020 may forfeit the scholarship funds.
